Point Calculations

Point Calculations 2017

  • Attendance at Meetings, Maximum Points = 5
  • This year, there will be two general homecoming meetings, where all teams are encouraged to attend. For attending these meetings, teams earn 1 point.
  • There will also be event-specific meetings for lip sync, pageant, and parade. This is so teams can attend the meetings that pertain only to the specific events they are participating in. This will allow meetings to be more structured and to the point.
  • There will be 3 lip sync meetings, 2 Parade meetings, and 2 Pageant meetings, where teams earn 1 point per meeting.
  • Meeting points are easy to earn and can give you that edge over another organization. There will be more meetings than there are points available.

  1. Alma Mater Competition, Maximum Points = 20
  • Participation by a minimum of FOUR (4) people, representing all organizations part of the team. (If you have 4 organizations, one person from each would hit the minimum number – if you have questions please do not hesitate to ask).
  • 10 participation points will be awarded for participating in the Alma Mater tryouts.
  • Groups will be judged on the following criteria:
    • Talent
    • Creativity (1st verse only; 1st time traditional; 2nd time can change- words or the music not both)
    • Professionalism (sportsmanship, promptness, following rules, knowledge of words, lyrics, dress, etc.)
  • The top 6 teams will advance and will receive points after participating at the Alma Mater sing competition.
    • 10 points: 1st place
    • 9 points: 2nd place
    • 8 points: 3rd place
    • 7 points: 4th place
    • 6 points: 5th place
    • 5 points: 6th place

Alma Mater competition gives points based by overall ranking regardless of each team’s category.
