Alma Mater Sing

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. All participants must be current full-time undergraduates at UConn’s Storrs campus.
  2. Participant list (A1) is limited to no more than 8 individuals and needs to be submitted onlineSeptember 19th at 4pm. Please submit this list via the Alma Mater Sing Participant List.
  3. All participants must sign up for an audition time slot after entries are submitted. Please keep an eye on your email for the sign up link after registration.
  4. The Elimination Round will take place on October 6th at 5pm. Participation points will ONLY be awarded if your group shows up to sing in the elimination round.
  5. Groups will perform in closed auditions for a panel of judges. Only the group performing will be allowed in the audition room during their audition time.
  6. The top 6 groups with the highest scores will be notified. These 6 groups will advance to compete on October 26th in conjunction with the Pageant.
  7. If selected as the finalist to compete during the Pageant, participants MUST be able to compete on the evening of October 26th (no corrections to the A1 list is permitted)
  8. Each team may have only one entry but if there are 2 groups in your team, both groups need to be represented.
  9. The Alma Mater Song will only consist of the 1st verse, sung twice. The first time through will be the alma mater and the 2nd time through is where the creativity is allowed. You can only change either the words or the music but NOT BOTH. And the total performance time MUST be less than 3 minutes.
  10. Any drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of mind-altering drugs before your group’s audition & performance will result in disqualification.
  11. Performers will be judged on the following criteria:
    1. Talent
    2. Creativity (1st verse only; 1st time traditional; 2nd time can change- words or the music, not both)
    3. Professionalism (sportsmanship, promptness, following rules, knowledge of words)
